TMD / PAIN

The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is the joint that connects the skull to your lower jaw.  Occasionally problems with the TMJ may arise and cause symptoms such as pain, clicking sounds, muscle spasms, limited movement, or even locking of the jaw. This is known as temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) and may occur spontaneously or due to external trauma. Treatment can be complex and may include bite adjustment, bite splints, muscle relaxants, joint surgery or a combination of treatment modalities. A proper clinical and radiographic evaluation and diagnosis is usually required to determine your particular problem and tailor a treatment specifically for you.
