CLEANING

Over time, dental plaque and tartar can build up on your teeth. Dental plaque is a bacterial film that adheres to the surface of teeth. When combined with calcium deposits from saliva, this hardens and becomes tartar. As these bacteria accumulate in your mouth, they can lead to dental decay and gum disease.

Dental cleanings involve the removal of dental plaque and tartar deposits that have built up on the teeth over time. Scaling is the process to remove the plaque and tartar. This is usually done by vibrating and scraping off the deposits. Polishing is then performed to smoothen and shine the teeth, as well as remove superficial stains.
