CHILDREN

It is generally recommended that your child see the dentist as soon as their first teeth start to erupt. By visiting a dentist early on, the chance of tooth decay happening in your child is minimized and dental problems can be more easily prevented. Children with healthy baby (primary) teeth chew food more easily, learn to speak clearly, and more importantly, maintain the space for the eventual eruption of permanent teeth at around age 6 or 7.

During your child’s dental visit, it is important that they feel comfortable in the dental chair and familiarize themselves with the environment.  Parents should try not to transfer any fear about the dentist to the child and should refrain from using any threatening language or negative associations with the dentist.

At Shenton Dental Group, we believe that going to the dentist should be a fun and pleasant experience. We have cartoons, iPads and games to make your child’s appointment more enjoyable, so schedule a visit for your little one today.
